Regardless of the different techniques, models, or algorithms designed, data is the backbone of the development of all artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. Developers of all AI systems regardless of scale rely on data in the training, testing, or validation of their systems.
However, this reliance may touch upon or even trespass on the borders of copyrighted content. This is because the data used for training AI may be extracted from already copyrighted materials in different formats including video, images, texts, or databases. Moreover, the interaction with copyrighted content may also continue along the lifecycle of an AI system.
